Black Grooves & liner notes

The Robinson Music Library has added Liner Notes, the newsletter of the Archives of African American Music & Culture to it’s shelves. Published monthly, the newsletter introduces the reader to the collections & activities of the AAAMC, based at Indiana University. The AAAMC is a “repository of materials covering a range of African American musical idioms and cultural expressions from the post-World War II era….collections highlight popular, religious, and classical music, with genres ranging from blues and gospel to R&B and contemporary hip hop. The AAAMC also houses extensive materials related to the documentation of black radio.”

The Archives of African American Music & Culture also publishes, Black Grooves, a monthly collection articles and reviews of resources covering a variety of genres including rap, R&B, jazz, blues, gospel and world music. The February 2008 issue of Liner Notes includes of index of all the recording reviews published in Black Grooves since its inception.
