“Modern” music

As an ardent follower of Alex Ross’ blog The Rest is Noise, I love his occasional “Miscellany” posts. These posts provide a random list of links to interesting stuff that’s going on in the classical world.

Check out the video below describing the Innova label which is dedicated to the promotion of all genres of new music. A product of the American Composers Forum, Innova’s:

“releases are less dictated by record-bin-constraints or typical notions of marketability, but by the integrity of the work, its originality, conceptual richness and technical quality, and the artist’s willingness to support and promote the release.”

Listen up, young composers!

Even better, access your library’s subscription to Naxos using VPN (type VPN into the help desk search box for instructions) and listen to one of the well-over 300 Innova titles in the Naxos database.

Another streaming option is Counterstream Radio from the American Music Center. Great options to keep up until the next concert performance of CIM’s New Music Ensemble at the end of February.
