Where are the MTs?

RML mapThis week’s title is in honor of one of the most frequent questions we receive here in your Robinson Music Library.

In an effort to help our patrons, we’ve  been exploring ways to avoid this confusion and improve our service.  Our most recent creation is the attractive map you will find hanging on the wall to the right of the circulation desk. Designed by our handsome and talented graduate worker, cellist Ryan Graebert (MM 2011), the map delineates the various sections of the library and how they correspond to their Library of Congress call number.

The bulk of our collection consists of:

  • M (sheet music, scores, etc.)
  • ML (music literature, biographies, etc.)
  • MT (music theory, analysis, teaching, etc.)

The map is an attempt to assist our patrons in finding their desired item, once the call number is in hand.

Soon this image will be installed on all of our public pcs as wallpaper so it will be a quick jump between screens to find the map. This will help lead you to one of the many desired items we hold here in our collection.

You spoke, we listened.
