Music Librarians Invade!

RML Director Jean Toombs leads a tour.

On Friday 8 July 2011, 27 music librarians gathered at CIM’s Robinson Music Library for a meeting of the newly resurrected Northeast Ohio Music Librarians group or NEOML. Descending upon University Circle were information professionals from Bowling Green, Cleveland Public, and the Rock Hall, among other institutions.

NE Ohio music librarians discussing issues

Organized by Rock Hall Library Director, Andy Leach, and Robinson Music Reference Librarian, Laurie Lake, the meeting grew out of a chance conversation at the recent Music Library Association meeting in Philadelphia. The group swapped stories about services and unique ways we serve our patron base. Most importantly, the gathering fostered new partnerships and acquaintances. We learned about each other’s collections and how we go about solving various issues along the way. Always interesting to hear how our colleagues are doing; thereby, helping to streamline RML services to our valued CIM students, faculty, and staff.
