Visitors to the library have been greeted by a piece of wood and some signs over one of the big picture windows that bathe the lobby in lovely light.
Hypotheses for the cause of the broken window range from raging students running a beeline from the library entrance through the window to angry rock throwing from disgruntled patrons. Alas, the real reason is rather tame. According to Circulation Supervisor Extraordinaire, Nicole Thomas, too many birds flew into the windows last Thursday at just the right angle and the windows simply gave out. Temperature fluctuation from warm to cold might have played a factor, as well as age since the windows date from the construction of the building in the early 1960s.
Never fear, a new window should be in place by the end of the month.
