Last April, the Digital Public Library website was launched. Comprised of digital collections from a myriad of government and commercial entities, the DPLA (their url is dp.la, gotta love it) unites under one umbrella a number of cultural treasures. A quick glance at Subjects lists the various topics under which items have been organized.

dplamusic Looks like there are over 7,000 images alone under the Music, and Music and Musical Instruments headings. One can find images of 177 pianos as they  developed over time. There’s also some great drawings and photos of various members of Classical Music Royalty like this great Edward Steichen photo Jascha Heifetz shown above.

The library features a number of digital exhibitions contributed from various institutions. Of particular interest to this girl whose forebears passed through Ellis Island is the Leaving Europe: A New Life in America exhibition assembled by Europeana Exhibitions.

And check out all the great apps with which to organize your content.

All in all, another great research tool free and open to all!
